I got a few mods, bottom line is money and how far are you willing going to go.
Quit while your ahead. you may catch "The Sickness"
ScottURNot has it. But we don't talk about that here.![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
"The Sickness" is a disease that makes you spend an obscene amount of time and money on your SC.

Here is my take..
I've got a 1JZ myself.its not in yet its just a race motor I'm building up. One reason I got it is because the price was dirt cheap for a good long block. The ceramic turbos don't last long especially if you're going to be seeing track days so you might want to upgrade to a single. The head has a 1MM oversized exhaust valve than the 2JZGTE head. However, the 2JZGTE head has a 1MM oversized intake valve than the 1JZ so in my opinion you really can't go wrong. One thing I don't like about the 1JZ block is the displacement and the short piston stroke. What I want to do is replace the block with a 2JZ block for the extra displacement and stroke. I'm just looking for more out of the 1J. The 1JZ head was also designed by Yamaha so you can always expect a great product. Another thing I did not like about the 1J is how the earlie generations had a recall issue with the PVC valve that was blowing a lot of gasses into one of the snails causing it to shorten the life of the ceramic snails.

so what would be the most responsive street car around 350-400hp, a na-t on stock compression, 2jzgte stock twins, or 1jz vvti single turbo, ive heard the 1j vvti has pretty good low end power

Na-t F.T.W =)
head gaskets costs 2000$? D.I.Y! if ur gunna take it to the mechanic to do a 2000$ gasket job you might as well do EVERYTHING else since your looking at the head! front and rear seals, valve job, etc, etc.
t67, thicker gaskets, injectors, walboro, etc. 550+rwhp! enjoy

So how much am I lookin' at really (Total) just to get my SC runnin' with the 1JZ,
so I can at least go to work?
The 1JZ cost me 600 (Engine Only, no ECU/Harness.)
I don't want any high-end super-products, for future HP, or anything like that; & Im not gonna up the boost or anything;
I just want it simply up & running, like a bone-stock Soarer for example.
Will it mount to my stock Tranny?
Also, can I put my 2JZ-GE Alternator & Throttle Lever, on it?
Heres pics:

You need a USDM Supra TT throttle cable. Some even use the one out of a Camry. The GE alternator will bolt up but I dont think the socket connectors are the same. It will have to be swapped. The 1JZ long block will bolt on to the W58. You'll need to spend about $550 for the harness job (modifying the body plugs to accommodate the SC and extending it to reach the ECU) and about another $300 for a used harness. There is actually a guy in the classifieds with a nice finished harness for $600 ready to go.

Your wire harness will be your biggest obstacle.
1jz-gte swap parts list should be:
1jz-gte motor
1jz w58 wire harness and ecu(would be easiest, and you still have to extend it)
Throttle cable
Plugs
Motor Oil
Oil Filter
Motor Mounts
Some kind of inter cooler kit
Some kind of intake
330 ohm resister(to solder behind cluster for temp gauge to work)
You will also need to Jump a resistor behind your cluster for tach to work
Antifreeze coolant
Not to mention anything that is broken on the 1jzgte like water pump, timing belt, cam seals, or valve cover gasket etc.
Hope taht helps

We do quite a few both TT's and NA-T's. I would strongly suggest going with an NA-T unless you really don't like the way the distributor "looks". You'll get better performance, and have a lot more updated motor without having to mess with the wiring harness ordeal.
Plus, in a street sc, you want all the displacement you can get if you want to keep up with other punchy cars.
