Default power steering h/p hose

okay so i'm going to have a local shop replace my power steering high pressure hose for my sc400. so i have to take out the hose and give it to the shop, when i take out the hose do i have to have something to cover up the openings where the hose were, to stop it from leaking or do i just drain it and just leave it like that? and is the sensors needed? any one ever built there own hose for an sc400? i saw a thread for the 300 but no love for the 400. aloha guys

I just put down some cardboard and let it drip, then topped the system back off with clean fluid. Getting the hose repaired is by far the cheapest way to get it done, and probably a more permanent fix to boot.

He's right... in the event it is somehow irriplaceable, go to driftmotion.com or somewhere else to pick up a stainless steel one they last forever and look pretty sexy.

I made a whole new one for my MK3-1UZ swap. I used a 86 or older Celica power steering line coulper to the pump. Pictures would show what I mean. There is a vacuum vavle for the highway assist ,but I don't remember weather or not it is on the high pressure side. You don't have to put anything over the lines cause it won't effect the system unless you drop a lot of dirt in it. Let it drain out into a drain pan there is only going to be a quart if that that will come out. There are no sensors on the line just have to remove the bolts from the pump and from the rack. That should help you out.

alright. so the hp hose is the ones that is connected from the pump to the rack and thats the only one i will have to remove and the one that usually leaks right?

The HP side does not ususally leak the pump is what ususally leaks more then the lines. I happens though every once in awhile depending on condtions the car is in. From the pump to the rack is the high pressure side there is a bolt that goes into the pump that is it the other is the return LP side.
