Default proper level of power steering fluid

What is the proper level of power steering fluid? There are cool and hot marks so I asume fluid needs to be at cool level . Too much of the fluid is going to create hard steering and too little is going to destroy pump.

when the engine is cool, fluid should be at cool level.

when the engine is hot, fluid should be at hot level.
