That's what I did. You can look at pics in my thread and see how bad the block looked originally. Piston tops had about 1/2 inch of carbon deposits. Crankshaft, block and bearings on the inside were solid though.

honestly, for the amount of trouble a 2jzgte swap is, I would tear it down and do a full rebuild before i even put it in the car. for 1j, that would include a 1.5J conversion and small single ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
as far as the nissan/youtube failure is concerned, SR20DET is known to kill rod bearings like a ****, pre-engine swap prep work includes changing the head gasket and all the bearings- as they are usually destroyed or on the way there. Buying a cheap secondhand JDM motor on terms of economy only (eBay) and not doing any work pre install (and posting the results on youtube) is asking for a buncha guys on forums in the years to come to bash your stupidity...
new oil pump, waterpump, gaskets, crank AND rod bearings, thermostat, oil system gaskets, all small rubber hoses are all needed from toyota, bearings, rings also.
same for driveshaft centre bearing and rear flex disc, you are tearing it all out, might as well swap it ALL before you re-install and have to do it again.
when you have everything ready to go, doing the actual tear down and rebuild is not more than another week of work, whats another week when you have 4 weeks of solid work in building a complete car-
the 2jzgte in secondhand form is at least 14 years old (1995->2009). even if you bought a $60,000 minty mint MK4 usdm 98 car with original 22k mile motor from sunnyvale toyota, your gaskets, plastics, rubber hoses would still be 11-12 years old - time for replacement.
