i need some Air conditioning help
Hey guys/gals.
i recently got a SC300 (1996) and when i first took the car the air blew somewhat cool, but it has since gotten worse. so i went and got a re-charge kit and tried it and the compresser wouldn't kick on to suck the freon through the system.
The A/C light DOES NOT blink, and it is not on all the time, only when i have the A/c turned on. My outside temp thing reads the temp as well. so it doesn't sound like a typical compresser problem. what do you think it could be? a line or the compresser?
thanks

It could also be the compressor clutch is going out. I've had one do the same thing and come to find out it was the compressor clutch. Also it could be low on freon. The system doesn't have enough to build the preasure needed to keep the system cycling at high speeds.

My ac system was empty (hole in line , got new one put on.) When I went to recharge it. The compressor didnt kick on right away. Took about 30 sec, then kicked on and started to take the freon. Also when you went to add freon you had the car on with the ac on high right?

I just managed to fix my a/c I had a/c that will not turn on. I just installed driftmotion power steering hose. I removed the valve at power steering pump and connected both inlet and outlet of vacuum hoses that went to valve. I replaced some other vacuum hoses with quality silicone hoses I had vacuum leek. I would look for vacuum leek also look on bottom of your a/c compressor there is sensor with black cable clean it well also clean cables that go to compressor make sure the connector is firmly secured. I would also disconect ground cable. My a/c kicked in and it was blowing cold air.
