crank pulley came off .. how?
so yesterday i was driving i was at a stop light.. i heard a clunk.. lost power steering and everything.. seen a pulley roll across the street in my rear view mirror.. i pulled over seen that the ring around the crankshaft pulley had came off.. i ran into the street to get the ring.. slid it back on.. put my belt back on.. drove it home.. my question is how did the ring come off?.. and how does it stay on? .. im sure it doesnt just slide on and stay.. help please.

this is a common issue. the rubber 'damping' material wears out and seperates the grooved pulley from the whole assembly. youll need to buy a newer one since that one will fall apart again.

i agree with biggu.
and to replace youll need the crank pulley tool. you can do it by using the starter method, which is putting a breaker bar up to the frame and crankin the motor over loosening the bolt. but to reinstall youll wanna torque it down. thats where the pulley tool comes in.

I read about the pros and cons about the OBX pulleys. I got one and I haven't had any issues with it yet. I also don't drive the car daily and so on... but I have kept a close eye and ear for anything under the engine bay and no complaints yet.

My vote is to go back the OEM route. No since in being cheap over 40.00 and causing someone down the road (and possibly you) more troubles that could have been avioded at a earlier time.
