Default Really stiff clutch...

I just got a Lexus SC300 5-speed, and I have 2 questions about the clutch:

1. Is it supposed to take like a hundred pounds of force to depress? I'm female and it's a stiffer clutch than I've ever had in a car.

2. Is it normal for there to be a sensation of scraping or "texture" during the clutch depress and release process? When it starts to engage I can feel a roughness through my foot, as if some parts are rubbing together without enough lubrication.

what other cars have you owned?

my clutch is the stiffest that i've ever owned too; its VERY stiff for a luxury car but not nearly as stiff as alot of aftermarket clutches

or a new 5.0 mustang clutch (good lord:eek: )

My Lexus seems stiffer than all of these cars. If that's normal it's okay. I'll just get used to it and build up my left leg muscles.

my clutch was stiff too .. and I miss it .. I had it replaced and now I can push it down with my pinky! .. well not really but it makes the car harder to drive sense its soooo soft imo.

as far as the scraping goes; that may be the clutch pedal hinge needing oil or whatever it uses; mine squeaks and you can hear it outside of the car

Yeah its normal to have a clutch that stiff compared to those cars Just look on the brightside; you get a workout whenever driving

It'll get to the point where its really light and it won't bother you anymore. And driving other cars will be a joke

Ah, the pedal hinge. Didn't even think of that. I'll check...probably just needs some door hinge grease or something.

Yeah, I'm kinda worried I'm going to stomp a hole through the floorboard the next time I drive my husband's pickup truck. :P
