Default Strange gas needle activity.

So a few mornings ago on the way to school, i noticed my needle sitting on empty. i flipped out but since i know i had gas, and there was nothing in the drive way when i left, i kept driving. i got to a red light and it started moving up to where i remember it last being. once i started moving again it dropped to empty again. On my way home after classes, it was normal again. any ideas?

P.S.
does everyones gas needle take forever to rise after filling up? mine takes a few minutes. on my rover the instant you turn it on it SPRINGS up...literally man it jumps up lol. thanks for any input.

Yea my car sc takes a minute or so to move up... and it never gets to the actual full line... i don't know why but once i start modding i will get to it...lol

but for the needle problem the first thing that pops to mind is fuel pump i don't know why..
but i think it could be something wrong wit the piece in the fuel tank that send a signal to your dash telling you how much gas you have.

I had a weird issue with my fuel gauge as well......When I went to inspect the float assembly, I found that 2 of the 4 clips had broken and the float assembly had seperated from its base and was dangling by its wires.....I clipped it back in with the remaining two clips and put a large zip-tie around it to prevent it coming unclipped again and haven't had any other problems with it since...

^Yeah, but its easy to get to.....just pull out the panel in the trunk to get to the tank, and the sending unit is right there on top of the tank......6 or 8 bolts hold it in.....literally take less than 5 minutes to have it out.
