Hey account i have no idea on how to post up pictures of pdf files so il just type it all. I have the fsm and was looking through the wiring for the ambient temp sensor. The brown wire from the temp sensor goes to pin7 of the eb1 connector which and pin #1 of the ii1 connector. The pink wire goes from the sensor goes to pin 4 on the IN1 connector->pin 3 Ir2->pin 8 B connector on the a/c control assembly. Its labled TAM. I believe one of the two connectors on the pink wire is right underneath the glove compartment.

Hey Account

Can you tell me what pin the cruise control is? I see it's yellow/black, and in connector A, but I can't zoom anymore on the picture.

Seems like Y/B T's off into the cruise control ECU and TD2

ihiryu I put the files into a .zip. Try and download them now. For the MPG data to work you'll have put in a 1995 and up button or add an external one. By default the combination meter shows outside air temperature.

Hey account, do you know which wires they are? Mine doesn't even show climate, just a blank screen

Thanks for the zip file, do you happen to have the ones for the 99 also?

I'm going to check pin 20A today, but according to the excel sheet it shows 20A goes to 2C on the cluster side.

What year is your SC and is it a 300 or 400?

Hey account, we should start a new diy official thread for this with all the info on page 1 so people don't have sift through 9 pages of unanswered questions.

I know, I pm'ed you back last night, I just couldnt remember what year your SC was.
I did just go pull my cluster to help refresh my memory.
First of all, Ive been doing some homework on the outside temp display and found that if your SC is a 92-94 the outside temp display wont work, to make it work you need to buy one of these out of a 95+ SC and wire it in.

Right now, mines the same way.

There were some wire that didnt need to be connected and some that I didnt connect because I didnt want them (air bag light, pwr/ect, headlight indicator)
I cant remember which is which but I hope this helps.
Oh ya, BTW, its pin 1 and 2 on plug C that dont need to be connected, and the pink wire is the speed sensor wire that also doesnt need to be connected because the 97+ speedo runs on a different system.

Maybe that's why my cruise control isn't working. Doesn't there have to a VSS signal to the cruise ECU??

Don't use the excel spreadsheet. soarer13oy made that for HIS 95. All your problems stem from not using the correct 1992-1994 and 1998-2000 pinouts.

Possibly.

In 1993 the Toyota Soarer received outside air temperature. Coincidentally the 93 SC300/400 climate control unit part number changed. It's quite possible the 1993-1994 unit could output the temperature signal. If not covering to a 1995+ system would be the only option.

The bad new is converting to a 1995+ system isn't so simple. Toyota changed the blower motor wiring from a transistor/resistor system to a relay unit.

Incorrect.

The change was in the the 98-00 system.
The change relates to WHERE the speed sensor signal comes from. 1992-1997 used the transmission speed sensor while 1998-2000 use the ABS sensor from the ABS computer. Pin D13
C1 or C2 depending on 1997 or 1998-2000 is the square waveform speed sensor signal out of the cluster. It needs to be wired up for the varies different computers onboard the car including cruise control.

Thanks for the insight.

Okay, I took a look at D13 which is currently connected to C13. C13 is the 92=94 VSS, so that's why my speedo is working.

From here, I need to wire up C2 (since mine is a 99 cluster) to A20 to cruise control ecu.

EDIT

According to the link for the 99 cluster

2C from cluster is supposed to go to the ECM

So it seems like the cruise control system on the 99 is controlled via ECU, rather than having it's own ECU like the 92-94 system.

According to the excel file (i'm using this as reference, as mine is wired up like this), is that I have A20->C2.

So if it's wired up this way, it may seem that using a 99 cluster will not allow cruise to work on a 92-94 then, unless soarer can confirm that his cruise works.

92-94 to 99-00
C13 to D13 - speed sensor input
C14 to C1 - speed sensor output
C15 to D14 - ground

Speed sensor output goes to multiple computers. main ecu, cruise control, power steering and climate control.

This is correct but it is irrelevant. The only function the combination meter has in regards to cruise control is converting the speed sensor signal into a usable for for the computer and displaying the light. It makes no difference if the actual cc computer is a standalone model or integrated into the main ecu.

You'll have to go through the wiring and fix whatever mistakes arose from using the 95-96 pinout.

Assuming you wire it up correct the only functions that shouldn't work are those that your car didn't come with. auto indicator, snow, pwr, trac depending on the vehicle. outside air temp, mpg, & switch if you can't get those to work.

Account, you are the man!

Went out and did this, and cruise works!!!

Okay, so according to the excel file, I had C14 to 2B. Cut 2B and wired in C14 in, and bam! Got working cruise control.

2B on the cluster goes to a headlight it seems.

Soarer13oy, why did you wire up 2B?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad, but I was just curious if 2B had a function we didn't knwo about.

Big thanks to both Soarer13oy who provided most of the wiring, and a huge thanks for account for helping out big time!

I'm pretty happy with this swap, and it's pretty straightforward, if it was for the inspiration that Soarer130y gave me to do this, and Account for making it almost fully functional!

Now just how to figure out to get the MPG display going, then I'd be in heaven!
