Cant rev after headgasket install
Ok guys, well this past week so far, i installed:
1. arp head studs.
2. Brand new headgasket
3. plugs
4. timing belt etc.
All this on my 93 Sc300.
and so i set timing at TDC on the #1 cylinder and lined up both cam notches at 12 o'clock. Distributor has been verified OVER AND OVER again with the notch correctly placed and the car literally idles fine.. BUT IT TAKES FOREVER TO START AND really fights me to fire up. Ive got fuel, spark, and compression. Timing appears to be dead on. But the strange thing is it idles fine but the second i want to give it any throttle, it wants to die and if it does stay alive and willing to rev, it runs like crap spewing partially burnt gas. No coolant in the oil which is good. ALSO-- the weird thing about it is, the check engine light is on which wasnt on before the headgasket change, but when i jump the terminals and pull the codes (even after the codes are cleared from pulling the fuse or terminal) it flashes very fast which indicates test mode but CLEARLY its not reporting codes although the check engine light is on. Anyone have any idea, it almost feels like timing is off but i have been verifying this for 2 days. Distributor is fine and i only changed the headgasket to get the head rebuilt and milled. Please help me
