Default VSS no.1 code 42

I have the common code 42 on my sc300 transmission. I've got a 1jz swap in it. I have read around for answers and I did the pink wire behind the cluster mod. The car significantly drove much better. I also disconnected the neg battery for a few min. I am still getting the O/D off blinking indicator. If this has happened to anyone else let me know what you did to solve the problem before I gotta go and replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor no.1. It could also be that the computer did reset long enough. Does the 1jz ecu take longer than a few min to reset?

Thanks for your responses.
