Lexus 5 speed Supra Swop?
Hello,
I own a Lexus relative and I am researching feasable transmission modifications, and thought this the best place to ask.
My car is a 1995 N/A 3 speed auto Supra, and I am planning to fit a Suprastick VV4 transmission controller.
http://www.latentsolutions.com/suprastickuv.html
This unit is capable of controlling 2 solenoid auto boxes.
However, it would be soooo much better to have 5 speeds to play with, instead of the present 3.
Is there a Lexus 5 speed auto trans that operates with 2 solenoids?
Thank you
David

Also, if you still want to mate a 5 speed, look into the GS/Aristo trans.

GS,
Thank's for the response, I was beginning to wonder if the thread views were ficticious?
The Supra trans is a 3 speed with overdrive, and operates with 2 solenoids.
There are Lexus boxes that are 5 speed, and mechanically a straight swop, but use 3 solenoids.
I want to know if there is a compatible 5 speed Lexus trans that operates with 2 solenoids.
I had reasoned that Lexus owners club enthusiasts would be the best folk to ask?
Are you suggesting that GS and/or Aristo trans have 5 speeds with a 2 solenoid operation?

225 member views, and not a single one with a workshop manual?
Come on guys.
"How many solenoids in your Lexus gearbox"?
is only slightly more technical than;
"How many wheels are there on your Lexus"?

You are asking a question very few would know the answer for. If you are going to sway a Lexus 5 speed you should get a shop manual for more than the question you are asking. They are available cheap on ebay in CD form or even immediate download.
I will say the 5 speed is decent but it is not as strong as the 4 speed. If your goals are to turbocharge it is not the best choice.
Good luck with whatever you decide and keep us posted as YOU will become the expert!
