Default How easy is it to swap a 1JZ-GTE with a 2JZ-GTE?

I'm just curious..

My engine (1jz-gte) has roughly 99,500 miles on it and if I come by a really good deal on a 2jz, I will definately take it. I just want to know, how easy the swap would be.

1 - I'm driving a 5 speed (R154) Soarer
2 - Will I need to swap ecu or anything?
3 - .. i don't know..

If you've already got a running 1jz, find a 2jz-ge block for cheap and use that. It will bump you up to 3.0 liters.

I'm not asking what my alternatives are, just basically how hard the swap from 1JZ-GTE to 2JZ-GTE would be and what I'd need to do..

It's just the wiring that's different, you need 2JZGTE ECU and harness.

unless you have the motor off a supra, you would replace the water pump, get a rear sump oil pan, and have the harness done.

In that case, all you would really need is to have the wiring done.

im sure it might be a little different but my friend had a mk3 supra with a 1j in it and when he swapped in an aristo 2j he didnt have to do anything but use the 2j ecu and motor... the wiring he had for the 1j plugged right onto the 2j motor and ecu.

but that was quite some time ago and maybe he told me some details i dont really remember

99,500 isn't **** on the 1j. Spend the money on a single and viola. Instant beast!
