Default Dynoed my '99 SC400

Numbers aren't as high as I thought they'd be but let's face it, it's practically stock haha. Only have headers and exhaust.

235 rwhp
227 ft-lb rwt

With drivetrain loss and general wear and tear due to age, that seems about right.

nice....

i woulda thot a vvti engine would put out more than that tho.

when i had only a JIC catback, i put down 196rwhp/219rwtq.

haven't dyno'ed since i installed my IMF headers with 2.5" mandrel bent piping and cats, 3" center cat to JIC exhaust.

then again, from what i hear, dynojets are easily manipulatable so mines might not be on the same scale to urs. too bad you didn't get a baseline before the headers to see what the gains were.

235 rwhp for a 98+ with exhaust mods seems about right. From a crank rating of 290 HP, that's only a 19% loss. Most stock 98-00 SC400s dyno around 225 rwhp.

You also gotta remember that our factory power ratings were from before the new 2005 SAE testing standards. For example, our successor the SC430 lost 12 HP after the revision.

Thanks guys. It was the 1st time i've ever dyno'd a car or seen it happen in person. Cool experience, super loud and just about the quickest way I've ever spent $75 haha.

yeah he said given the year and mileage the motor seemed pretty damn healthy

I was going to dyno before but being the impatient person I am, the day the headers came in I went to the shop and dropped it off to have them installed. With my work schedule it was either get them put on then or who knows when. Before the headers/exhaust I never really cared to see what it made.

if you assume that drive train lost is around 30% that should be around 335hp at the crank, about 40 up from stock, thats pretty good.

that seems very low. that drivetrain loss is huge. sti, which is AWD, make 230whp stock and 300hp at the crank.

Drivetrain loss on the 98+ Lexus 5 speed is typically 20 - 22%

Yeah those numbers don't match up for some reason. I thought the torque numbers would be higher then the power to the rear wheels. The over all power would seem to be around 260 hp or so since the motor is rated at 290 crank. I'd like to see other dyno #'s from other people with the same setup.
