Default remote mount turbo.

has anybody ever thought of a remote mount turbo for the sc400.
i mean the engine bay is a little cramped so why not do one?
or even a twin turbo one.
ive searched Alot and have only seen one sc with a remote mount and people say it dont even run. it was for a photo shoot.
then you wouldnt have to worry about very high priced turbo manifolds just get some good flowing headers.

i am thinking about building on of these for my sc400 and just run like 8-10 lbs boost on stock engine.
and find some good fuel management.

i dont think the idea is far out there or anything.
it would just be something a little different.

here is a diy kit on a cavi lol.
or i could buy one of these [=
http://www.ststurbo.com/industry_experts

but im a big diy guy so i think i would just fab one up

and if this has been covered please send me in the right direction.

any input from you guys would be great.

im not too big of a noob. and i know some tuners in chicago that can hep me out with the tuning and what not.

That's a little out of, well, ALOT of peoples price range.. LoL!

A nicely put together sts rear mount is more than sufficient on the 4.0!

Id love it if someone would put something like this together in a kit. then I might keep the 4.0 that's currently in my car.

some of them bmw guys are running these.
this would be the only reason i would want to keep the 1uz
ive seen power made with the 1uz but with alot of money dumped into it.
i could buy a 2jz and make plenty enough power for less money.
for the people i know and the work i can do i could toss together a remote mount turbo for pretty cheap. in the 300-600$ range matters what kind of deals i can get ahold of.

A lil project I started back in December... I'm hoping to get the SC on Sean Church's Dyno to get some real power numbers by early February. I'm expecting to make somewhere in the low to mid 300 whp. I'll write up a build thread on this later. Any local CL members near the South Bay are welcome to come check out the project as long as you bring food or drinks Just an FYI, I'm well north of 2k on parts alone so going this route isn't for the cheap or weak minded. The proper oil pump alone cost me $300! These are old pix, I've slightly revised the piping and I'm using a different turbo. I'll post some new pix up sometime next week.

thanks so much thats what i like to see. i have alot of stainless pipe and mandrel bent pieces. a nice fmic leftover from a honda that was too big lol. and alot of misc. bends.
im not worried about price as long as its not WAY far out there. cant skimp on the oil i that would be the last thing i would do is go cheap on the oil pump.
the only thing i would be worried about is getting enough fuel and tuning like i said i know people but i would want to go with the right fuel management system. but i know i can find all that type of stuff on CL. thanks for the pictures.

Mitch is known for getting a Honda AEM EMS working for the SC4 and still retain the auto controls BTW. Also very nice rear mount setup

I bet people will look at you funny when they see an air filter where the tail pipe would be LOL.

Pretty cool setup though.

What happens if its raining? Is there a plate to protect the intake on the turbo?
