I've wanted to swap out my 92 SC400 engine for a 1UZFE with less miles and problems,
whats the latest year that i can install, and what components will i need to do this, i heard that the latest engine to use would be from a 97
i just want to confirm this with someone thats familiar with this kind of a swap
please confirm.

well my reasoning for wanting a 1UZ is not to just leave it stock. TT or supercharge would be the plan. Even the newest 1UZ is cheaper than an old JZ. Not that Im downing the JZ its just preference right now.
Im sure swapping a 1UZ into the SC300 will be cheaper than a full 2J swap.
Oh and DJ, I wouldnt waste the low mileage 2J, I would save it for when I find me a AE86 or a CelicaSupra. ITB's screaming.

The way I think about it is I would be upgrading the radiator anyway. I will be tracking this car and prob blow a motor at some point and the cost of a replacement 1UZ would be astronomically cheap.
I wouldn't bother with charcoal lines and AC stuff should be easy to find used and cheap.
The overall benifit will be the torque made compared to a I6 with equal modifications. the UZ will almost always have a closer tq to hp ratio even with a twin scroll on a I6.
But this isn't really about which motor is more benificial. Im just wondering exactly what is different in the engine bays.

as far as the engine bay, the radiator, charcoal can, AC lines, as well as i'd imagine trans cooler lines/steering lines might be routed differently. Also, i'd imagine the firewall would need to be clearanced in some areas.

I def appreciate the other viewpoints. Ive gone over all those in my head. It would def be simpler to go 2JZ and it is still very much an option.
Why do you think the firewall needs clearancing? Are the 400 and 300 not identical chassis (save minor things like brakes/spring rates etc.)
I def do not need a trans cooler since I will be keeping my W58 and using an adaptor for the bell housing.

Good info. Have you driven a GTE SC? Can you give a comparison?

There are some Supras with the 1UZ conversion done. Try in supraforums. Then if you want to give more power to your 1UZ, search for Cihan Aday. He made the eTuner S1 Turbo kit. 347rwkw on stock engine. Seems good to me.
