I got a 92 sc4 with 99k, and sometimes the tranny acts very weird. No check engine lights, no sign of it at all it happens randomly. Lets say im at a stop-light waiting for the light to turn green. When it turns green and attempt to acclerate it picks up normally in first and as its time to go in second it completely skips second gear and drops me in 4th. If i take the shifter and drop it from "D" to "2" it throws me in third gear. Not in 2nd as it should. But if i were to throw it into "1" it goes to first. Doesnt matter cold or hot, wet or dry it does it out of nowhere. Any problems like this???? HELP!!

Sounds like a solenoid issue. My 92 MR2 with an AT had the same symptoms, and it turned out on of the shift solenoids in the transmission was dead, and it lost 2nd gear. Mine would shift directly from 1st to 3rd, though.
The SC transmission uses two shift solenoids just like the MR2, to shift through it's four gears, even though they are very different transmissions.
I'm not sure how easy these are to replace on the SC trannie, but they are apparently difficult to replace in the MR2 trannie.
