NOS is used for spooling up the big turbo, but is not used as main power source for race cars. This twin turbo kit doesn't need NOS, because it's a street & mild drag turbo kit. From the turbo specs and setup, it's good for daily driving and 11 seconds for 1/4 mile. All needed is cranking up the boost.

I vote supercharger!

I know I've said this before but a Vortech is probably the cheapest and easiest way to add a ton of power to the 4.0 V8.

I estimate, based on previous dyno numbers and trap speed improvements since, that I am making about 400RWHP on 12 psi. This is on one of the SMALLEST head units that Vortech makes!

I've been daily driving my car, supercharged, for over 2 years now!

Based on my latest 1/8 times (see link in sig) I should be able to knock off sub 12 second passes. I'm thinking 11.8's to 11.9's. Maybe better, I was babying it off the stall when I made that pass.

---------------------------

Regardless of the choice, be it nos, supercharger or turbo, don't forget about the supporting mods. I have come along way in the speed department with the same amount of boost.

Maybe you are right, but I don't think this statement is based on fact.

The highest hp 4.0 Lexus engine I've seen is the Opel Omega that some guy built with a Vortech boosting at 1.65 bar. Makes 1005 hp at the crank. Google it.

Also, there is more to making power than the highest hp numbers. More so when your talking about a daily driver.

Supercharger or turbo doesn't matter when it comes to the race. It only matters when you can really drive a fast car. Some guys with the same car can drive a second slower than the others.

True that the driver(s) can win or lose the race despite the car but.......... trap speed is just as valid a performance measuring stick as the dyno.

To the few guys that have PMed me about my setup, I'll get back to you soon. Just haven't had time.

KC, Steve and Scott all made excellent points! Just choose one that fits your budget, your power/Tq goals, and add Fi. You will love it whether you add a roots blower, a twin screw type, a centrifugal, or a single or a twin turbo set up. Just not NOS. Not the same thing at all. Whatever FI you add, you will love the additional power and tq, and you will be grinning like a Chesire cat. Add it.

If money is a factor, as it is with all of us, and you want to do a lower budget set up, follow what Steve Chumo did on his first set up of a Single Turbo, or follow what KC did on his initial stage of his centrifugal blower set up.

They kept their costs down and kept it simple and managable. I know Steve and KC got the bug and then kept spending more money..... Not surprisingly, as the fun becomes infectious.
