Well, thats not an easy question...

1st thing you need to do is figure out what your power goal is. Keep in mind you will need quite a few supporting mods if you want to make much over 350-400rwhp. More so since your car is a 97(?).

If you are planning on modest power just about any type of FI and any supercharger can easily do it. If your planning for big power, you'll likely need to re-build the motor while pretty much upgrading everything. Also, lets keep in mind how weak the stock transmissions are on these cars. Not to even mention a ton of other things.

If you plan on using the fish bracket from Lextreme, you must use a CCW rotation head unit. With a little work you can probably get pretty much any head unit to bolt up to it. You need to re-locate the battery and you need to replace the hydro fan pump with an LS400 fan bracket which, will also then require the use of e-fans.

As far as ease of installation - very. A simple vortech install with all the right parts ready to go and no intercooler (I recommend water/meth) would probably take me half a day (if that) to put on if I had to do it again. There are always things that pop up though.

Singel Turbo. Better to replace 1 then 2 Jurbo's. Also why would you want a superchanger, Their Crank Power Robbers.

Go with free power. TURO All the way....

I am not an expert but.........

When comparing a roots to a turbo, yes turbo is much more efficient. When comparing a centrifugal to a turbo, yes the turbo may be more efficient but is the cost and challenge of putting one on an SC400 really worth 10-20 hp? Also I disagree that turbo is "free power". Lets not forget that it is quite a restriction in the exhaust pipe.

If I'm not mistaken, stevechumo's car (turbo) makes about the same power as mine (Vortech) with about the same boost. So, what's so wrong with a supercharger then?

The power potential with either can be from mild to wild. Just depends on your budget, time and taste. If you don't have much time and money but must have FI on an SC400 I would very strongly recommend a simple centrifugal supercharger setup.

KC is an expert in supercharging the SC400 (not LS400) with a centrifugal supercharger. I think he's the only one in the US who did it successfully. LOL.
