Trying to find out if there are metal shavings in my ac system and noticed that in the FSM you have to remove the ABS system.

I have a 1992 sc400.

And with the age the less I can take out the better. thanks guys

No clue on this one, but usually the FSM is on the extra safe side.
like when removing the throttle body it tells you to drain the coolant.. its really not necessary cause you will only get a few drips but thats the procedure.

I would advise going as far as you can without removing it, until it is actually necessary due to space or other concerns. the diagrams should give you an idea of why they want you to remove it at the least. looks like you will have to be a pioneer on this one.

I found this write up but its for a 1991 LS400, I wonder if it still applies

I did this last weekend, it can be done with patience and small hands. There are 2-3 bolts behind the ABS that connect the evap to the inside of the car. Just squeeze your hands back there and take out the bolts.

Doing this right now as we speak. PUll the fuel evap canister out of the way, than it is easier to get to those bolts.
