Default quality 1jz single manifold?

im working on a 1jz build and looking into my manifold options.

the only options ive found are ebay manifolds or modified ebay manifolds

i also saw the MTR but after doing a little searching i saw a lot of negative things about them

is there a quality manifold available for the 1jz? one im not going to have to worry about 5-10 yrs down the road?

Not unless you find a Greddy manifold or consult Boostlogic to have Mark make a custom manifold.

Drewgo on supramania makes them, but I read that his were Korean copies of the Greddy or HKS and weren't really high quality.

ya i figured i might have to contact BL for a custom, i imagine thats going to be real expensive... might as well buy 3 modified ebays and save $1k

actually, i just saw these on ebay... coming from thailand but might actually be a decent manifold 2.2mm thick which is a hair thicker than 14guage for you domestic guys

i found them by searching "1jzgte" on ebay

Without even looking at the links I knew which manifolds you were talking about lol. They have been posting those on ebay for years but I haven't really seen anyone use them. That may just be because it's not dirt cheap like some stuff out there and they aren't sold all over the internet. As for the intake manifolds I have seen a fair amount of people use them with good reviews but that's different than a turbo manifold so hard to compare. I talked with them a while back about one for my rb25 and they seemed like good guys. I would say the best part is they are cheap and they can custom set up whatever flanges and so on that you want. It has been a long time since I talked to them so I would ask about their materials, experience, and equipment. See if you can get some installed pictures as well.

I don't know what's out there on the MTR manifold as far as bad reviews, but my 1.5JZ car has one of their first manifolds and it's been running for 6+ years on 2 different engines. Like I said....it's a REALLY early one and still has an old-school 46mm 4-bolt wastegate flange. It's been supporting a PT76 for at least 2 of those years and (knock wood) is still doing great. For reference as to how long ago the previous owner bought the manifold, it was $650 when he got it and now they fetch near $1000 I think. I'm not sure they are in business anymore though. I've heard even the big name tuners can't get their products anymore. Again...all rumors so no idea if it's true.

PowerHouse racing says they can build a quality 1JZ manifold, but it will take 8 weeks. That and it would be like $1700+

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=490913

They built a super sick Sc300 drag car. I looked this car over at TX2K10 and it was slick.

Dont believe the hype. Unfortunately forums thrive on chinese whispers and bullsh1t gets round super fast. Cheap manifolds off ebay are not bad news. You just have to realise what you are buying.

Ive been running an xs manifold for sometime now with a Greddy T78. No problems whatsoever.

HOWEVER...

I braced the manifold as soon as i got it:

Ive heard of greddy manifolds cracking so i would do the same regardsless of who made it. The roads around where you live play a big role in manifolds cracking. high temp + bumpy roads = crackage.

Leave the BL manifolds to the people who have more money than sense.

good luck buddy
