My other guess was the Safc, if you want try disconnecting it, the car should run better on just the stock ecu..try it out?

All in all standalone is the most headache free/consistent route.
You could use the TT ecu to run your car, but since you are odb2 you will loose all your odb2 stuff and obviously won't pass emissions with that ecu, but then again you will have that same problem with the ems on odb2. something to think about.

and the FIC can control fuel and pull timing in boost. it doesn't modify the airflow signal like the safc, it actually changes the injector signal between the ecu and the injectors, and uses an o2 trick to tell the stock ecu that it delivered the right signal (even though it didnt even use that output). thats why it seems to work for all the is300's, but while its a more fancy trick than an safc, at the end of the day its still a workaround, but with improved results.

Sure a standalone is expensive, but an education never comes cheap either

Im sure going OBD1 would be a good fix..or should I say band-aid. Im pretty set on just getting back to NA. Chris if you read this, please check your pm's.

Edit: I think besides just ecu it would also require a different harness..correct me if Im wrong but maybe a few other things as well.
