DIY: GM th350 swap and Hurst Pistol-Grip Shifter Install
Parts Needed:
-th350 Transmission
-Torque Converter
-Trans Adapter
-Torque Converter Adapter
-Trans Mount Adapter
-Flexible Dip Stick
-Shifter and Linkage
-Speedometer Solution, ether a mechanical gauge or Electric Conversion(http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...109/prd109.htm)
-Plug for Kick-down Cable's hole
-Trans Mount(If Needed or if wanting to go poly)
-New Bolts for adapters
-Trans Cooler
-Lines for Cooler
-Driveshaft Converter
****NOTE**** I would definetly test fit your trans before you plan on doing the swap there is alot of banging and reshaping that is needed of the trans tunnel.
Day 1.
Pulled engine, trans, torque converter, flex-plate, old transmission cooler lines/setup
I left the engine on the puller and had the transmission on a flat surface
To get to the 6 torque converter bolts you need to take out the inspection cover on the lower oil pan. Simple pry with a flat head screw driver.
You don't need to worry about saving the old bolts the only ones that will still be needed are the 2 starter bolts.
Here is the th350 sitting with the new dipstick.
Hurst shifter, modifying stock shifter cover for it.

I ran the Th400 in my SC300 and didn't like all the aftermarket shifters for the transbrakes. So I helicoiled a Supra 6-spd shift **** and then drilled in and installed my transbrake push button on the shifter column. Kept it much more stock looking Looks like you have a fun project on your hands. Good luck,

prepare to beat the hell outta that trans tunnel!!!!
Took me almost a day to get mine right, mine way on a lift with a tranny jack and it kicked our tails!
we did not use the JW ultrabell bellhousing, we just took a couple 80 grit flapper wheels and smoothed mine out, also dont let the trans adapter fool you, your gonna need to trim 2 of the mounting ears off the tranny to even get it in the car close to the adapter

Yeah- whooping the crap outta the trans tunnel is a nightmare- I hope you have some beefy arms. Ross Machine or SP...even Manic Tech offer good low cost adapters. For once I think Titan's price was high- hell must have frozen over. I used the stock shifter plate too with a Quarter Stick and it looks VERY good. It's going to look even better with your pistol grip. I'm liking this thread- can't wait to see it finished.
