EMS Decisions 99 Na-T
Ok So its time for me to get some engine management, looking to spend 400ish. I'm really leaning towards the AEM FIC because the IS guys have such good luck, but I'm contemplating SAFC, Greddy, Maft Pro, and ..mabe megasquirt lol.

I have map ecu2, and it's very user friendly, I've never used tuning software, and I wasnt overwelmed at all when I went through the program. You can download it on the map ecu website. I'd go with map ecu2 though.

man all i can say is don't pay attention to what the obd1 guys tell you, not because they are trying mislead you, but it's just way different with obd2..
i personally think AEM FIC is your best bet, doesn't even cost much more then a new safc2.
i'm running FIC on my car, still waiting to get tuned myself, then i'll let you know the results, but for a obd2 NA-T guy the IS300 forums are your friend!, not alot of obd2 or VVTI na-t knowledge on these forums, cause most people gte swap, or have obd1..
my car had a safc2 on it for a couple months, then picked up the aem fic and ditched the safc..

save your money and go standalone... your talking about the most important piece of equipment in your entire setup and your putting a really low budget on it... save up until you can afford and aem/motec or similar. It will save you it's own price tag a little further down the line when it offsets the cost of head aches, troubleshooting, and reliability issues involved in trying to use a piggyback.

Thanks Paco ya Ive been leaning towards the AEM for months so many IS people love it, there making good numbers and it simulates o2s so no CEL's! So my next thing is injectors, the VVTi ones are soo small I have to really maximize Adj FPR to get it running good. Ive herd of people using RX7 injectors(about500cc) but they sell em in sets of 4. What are you guys using? Tempted just to buy like 1600cc but there $$.

There's lots of info out there on how to size them. Set a goal and go from there. 1600 cc's is a bit much...unless you wanted to be around 1100hp.

i bought 2 sets of rx7 injectors and I kept the extra 2 as spares =).
good to keep or re-sell them.
stepping down to 1000cc just doesnt sound right. you need more cc's than Hp you want to make in the general case with premium gas. unless you are running ethanol or a flex fuel I think the 500-800 range is more appropriate. also some ecus will have trouble running crazy injector setups, if your standalone, then run whatever you want basically.
