Default Engine Dies on Startup

Hey folks...just bought a 1992 SC 400. The car runs really great; however, there are times when you start the car that it will die. It will initially idle up to about 1.2K rpm and go down to about .8K, then slowly die. Sometimes it will take 2 or more times to start it up and then it will run fine. It has never died after it stays started. I have driven it from San Diego to Los Angeles and it ran with no problems. However, I stopped to eat for about 30 minutes and got in the car and it took 10 consecutive tries before she stayed running.

Anyone familiar with anything like this happening to them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds like your fuel pump ecu is failing.

Turn the key to on, but dont crank it and see if you can hear either the fuel pump running or fuel flowing at the injector rail.

If not...the pump...pump ecu...or main ecu fuse..or ecu
