this project was very inspirational!-job well done my man. i love to see the vvti v8 get this kind of love and attention. like you, i also am a first with a swap of this nature (swapped out my 95 sc400 v8 engine for a full 98 vvti v8 drivetrain)and totally understand what comes with the territory but, in the end it was all worth it!! can't wait to see what came out of it with your upcoming dyno reveal.

WOW, congrats. There is a guy spf_lexus on lextreme that is doing that same swap right now. If your not on lextreme you should join. You might be able to shed some light on his build. What did you do about the fuel system. Your car was set up w/a return system but the vvti doesnt have that? Thanks for the props & as soon as I get some money going again, cause im tapped after my build, ill have it dynoed again.

wow, i never thought it could be done, but you did it. I contemplated this a while back and thought that too much would have to be done for it to work, but you make it sound like it's simple. 1-10 scale (1 being easy 10 being expert only) how hard was it to make it all work?

It feels great. Pulls hard. Yes I still used my stock 5spd auto. Yes I still have the block. I havent pulled the piston w/bad rod out yet. but Im thinking that the crank & #6 rod will have to be replaced.

Ill give it a "8" only cause the amount of work involved to do the swap. If you had a brand new 430 short block sitting there & all you had to do was disassemble the 400 motor & slap the heads & everthing together, would make it a 6.5 but all the clean up of the used 430 pistons, block, new rod bearings, all new valve seals etc. Thats alot of work. There really is nothing super hard to it. Just an A$$ load of work. Probably hardest part would be to find a 430 short block for sale. I got lucky that Lextreme had one.

i think in the next few years the prices for those motors will drop by a ton (430 is no longer around in the newer lexus cars) and will make this mod a real bargain. IDK about boosting it, but as an NA car it should make some decent daily driver power...not to mention it sounds like a beast! Congrats!

You can go low boost on the stock rods but, if you want to boost, then you should just build the bottom end. I would like a single turbo setup, but money/time/dd makes it hard.
