What would happen if your timing belt failed/snapped?

If you timing belt failed then you would have no compression in any cylinder. If you suspect it failed pull off the cam gear cover.

Will spin over really fast if the belt broke, or if it jumped enough teeth.

you should post up what is wrong with your car. failed timing belt is an obvious one. a visual inspection is the quickest way to tell if you take the cover off.

there are 2 timing belt covers that wrap around each distributor on the sc400.
I dont think it takes more than a few minutes to remove them.
http://www.lextreme.com/timing.htm step 8 is all you need to do

I like to check my timing belt periodically. its a good thing.

compression test would be the easiest way to check for broken or stripped belt if you can crank you engine without any interference.
