Wondering about my 1jz tranny
so my car is complete stock 1jz auto wit fmic, when i went down the track my car would shift to 2nd normally but then would shift again at 4.5k to 3rd then as soon as it gets to third itll down shift again to 2nd and shift normal from there. i also notice that when i drive like normal, its would shift normal from 1 and 2 but it would skip 3rd and go straight to over drive. i have to manually turn the over drive on and off so the car would drive normally. do u guys think something is wrong wit my tranny?

are you running stock boost are boosting more? my 1j with auto runs great on 13 to 15 psi all i added was a shift kit the tranny and it's not built. but when i go anything higher then 17psi it doesnt like to shift so i have to shift from d1 to d2 to drive then into OD manually. So i just keep it at like 14psi until my other tranny is fully built. i like riding in the auto setup. but no matter how much you dump into building a auto tranny all the build does it makes the tranny last longer under high loads of power. But eventually it will brake to.

check the trans fluid and top up.
definitly the shift solenoids ($500aud installed with new type 4 trans fluid)
it takes about 1.5hrs to do and you need a hoist.
disconnect the battery too

i checked the trans fluid already, and its fine. I used dextron for my fluid is that correct? so u saying it definitely is my shift solenoid? so this has nothing to do with the kick down cable?

Could be your ecu, i had an ecu that would not shift to second gear, it would just goto third no matter what and then it would down shift to second sometimes randomly while driving.
