SC400 Power Steering Pump Replacement Costs?
I've been doing a LOT of searching and reading on the forums since Friday when my PS decided it was too hot to live any longer here in Florida. So far I've done what I can do replacing the failed hose (inlet hose #1 from res to pump top) and a flush / refill / bleed... but that really hasn't helped all that much to be honest.
And so now, 4 nights of forum reading later the one thing I haven't seen anyone give is total end of day prices for service shop PS pump replacement jobs. I must have missed it because it just seems like someone would have mentioned this *somewhere* on here - even if most of us are DIY guys.
So, what is the end of day price you can expect to pay for replacing a Power Steering Pump, it's gasket kit, and the obviously required Reservoir flush / filter clean out / fluid refill and labor combined for a 1993 SC400?
Is it 500 bucks, is it 700, 900 1500 or more?
I'm assuming the pump is somewhere in the 400 range for a real toyota/lexus one. Gaskets maybe $40? Fluids $30? And the labor will be in the 6 hour range at something like 60-80 an hour?.. or am I just smoking crack all over the place and not anywhere close on these guesses?
My mental guesstimate is around $950 bucks. And that price makes me feel ill honestly. I'm unemployed (STILL! and no unemployment) and scraping by doing contract work where I can find it for Web Design and Flyers and bs like that, dealing with ridiculous electric bills even though we keep the house @85 frikkin' degrees (bills are on average 350 to 425 dollars a month just for electric here in Tampa) and counting on my lovely Lexus to hold it's **** together. I do nearly ALL my own work to it and have since I bought the car in 2006.. but I'm tired... sooooo tired of working in the engine bay of my 400 - especially in the FLORIDA HELL SUMMER!
Anyway - prices from those that know? I'd love some data - much appreciate CL crew Thank you in advance.

What was your total cost - did you have to also buy a gasket kit, did the mechanic charge for fluid? And leaving in *all* the other parts of your PS system, did the replacement of just the pump it's self completely solve your problem from head to toe?
