Yep we have the same problem
or sound, I don't know if you could call it a problem. I have it narrowed down in my brain to 3 things. 1. loose spark plug knocking around in the tube. (2) exhaust leak that only presents itself at such low rpms because at higher rpms, the pressure and flow is high enough to not leak. (3) Need new shims for the camshafts.
The only reason I put 5w30 oil in is because that's what it calls for in the manual and on the oil cap. I'll be doing the tune up as soon as my parts come in. At that time, I'll atleast be able to check the plugs to rule that one out. I'll be looking at the camshafts too but I won't know what I'm looking for![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Man I hope one of us finds out what the sound is. I found another thread (dated several years back) in a different Lexus forum in which a man had the exact same sound issue. I have a feeling it is something simple and that it also is nothing to worry about it. But then again, my knowledge of mechanics is such that my limitation is found in changing engine oil haha... but seriously.
Please let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same for sure.

I have the same issue as you guys do, its very pronounced near the valve cover. I used a engine stethoscope to locate the noise. Im pretty sure its valves needing a re shim.

Even listening to an engine with a stethoscope, it's hard to track down the root cause. The sound will reverberate.
The PS pump internals can tap very loudly at idle and increase with idle until they are drowned out.
A rodknock would get louder with revs, but it should also sound like metal on metal whereas the PS pump doesn't have that same clank.
I would listen to the PS pump, either with a stethoscope, long screwdriver or something.
Is the PS pump OEM original??
