Anyone else have their LS400 calipers high polished??
Today I started removing all the rsurface rust and grime with a circular wire brush attatched to my drill. cleaned the surface up pretty good. Now i'm at the stage where i want to smooth the surface/crevices of the caliper. I hit one small section with some sand paper...just to test it out..and the results were decent...but i know there's gotta be a better way to polish and get my calipers to shine like aluminum foil
And what protection can i put on the finished calipers to prevent them from accumilating rust once im done with all this?
thanks in advance for any feedback..

Just search google how to polish metal. Theres alot of threads. Basically your gonna sand the hell out of it, starting with a coarse grit and working your way up to a very fine grit. Then your gonna use some metal polish and give it a nice shine.

Waisting your time man.Even if you polish it ,it will take few days to oxidize again. Theres no clear coat that i know that will stick to polished surface....polished surface=smooth ,Clear coat needs rough surface to (bite)
But theres clear powder coat if you are serious about it.

Use 50 grit sandpaper by hand/dremel until you can move up to 100. Then let dremel take over til everything is smooth enough. move to 200, 400, 800 then 1000 wetsand to 2000 wetsand. Use the polishing kit to finish off. Upkeep - every 3-4 months use aluminum polish if you want it shiny all the time. I try to polish once a year, it doesn't get too bad. good luck

those polished calipers look great....are the stock sc400 calipers the same--
i would love to do that to them...mine are covered in rust----
--im sure there is a high heat clear coat that will work fine..even if you have to clear coat them every 6 months or so it is worth it.
thanks
