*Update cars back on the road took her out for a while. Everything seems pretty good it deff takes more of an effort to drive around the rugged R154 and slammed car Ratios are decent almost perfect for me but I'm still going with a 3.27.
My main question is how hot is the trans suppose to get. After a decent amount of driving its pretty warm under the shift boot/and cup holder. When I rest my leg against the side of the tunnel its pretty warm?

Hopefully someone can answer my question. The other day the R154 started making a constant clacking sound anytime theres load on engine, found it to be DS knuckle hitting the metals dust cover on tranny. So that was one noise.

*Last night I took my buddy for a quick 2nd-4th pull to 120 then slowed down. rite after I let off to slow down i shifted to 5th on the decel and the trans started making a random loud metal sound almost like somethings broken in the trans. I'll be cruising in 4th and randomly feels like something punches the shifter Don't know if this has anything to do with it but shifting into 2nd gear is a little harder now, had it grind a couple times and my clutch seems to engage more towards the top of the pedal now?

Anyone have inout on this or similar issues w R154's?

* Checked out the PP /Slave assemble all looked good, I even re-bled it. Still having an issue. I noticed if I rev out 1st gear higher it goes into 2nd a little smoother. When in boost theres no issue it seems like randomly when I'm on a decel after boosting hard whatever gear im in it will make a random metal double clank sound and I feel the shifter vibrate then it goes away.

I dunno I guess I'm just going to continue driving it daily and see what happens

Maybe it is the infamous thrust washer issue? I am not sure what symptoms it will display if the thrust washer goes, but I would look into it. I hate to say it, but I would pull it out and tear it open. No telling what might be eating itself in there, and the longer you run it, the more stuff gets eaten.

^ya your prob right. Had a bad day today well last day driving the car. Everything was going good just got a new job car was fun to drive. But today leaving for work it was cold, I could not shift into 2nd at all just grinded. As it warmed up I could slam it in eventually. Leaving work it makes a constant noise like a bad bearing, it does it at all times till I come to a complete stop. And randomly doesn't matter what gear I'm in sounds like a metal woodpecker tapping on my shifter..then goes away...

No funds, have to figure a way to work. Cars down for the count for now

Yup def a thrust problem, I would stop driving it before you do anymore damage, Just do the crawler upgrade and you will be good to go.

Thing is when I bought it, the guy "said" it was newly rebuilt bla bla. When I first put it in it made some noises, but I guess they all do and it felt good shifted tight, randomly it made a weird metal sound.

Basically I dont beat on trannys ever I granny shift when boosting on purpose because its fun enough as is, knowing about the thrust issue I NEVER did a first to second gear slam or even boosted in 1st gear at all, I would lay into in 2nd and go from there. I don't know how it could break that easy on 17lbs

My only logical guess was because the trans had been sitting for 5+yrs before I bought it that the bearings seized up from sitting.

Highly unlikely as the bearings are big ballbearings which can even survive a few milis with out lube so chances of them going bad from sitting is slim to none however it may have been "rebuilt" wrong and unless it was a top of the line shop that did the rebuild then most likely they did not set the preloads at all so I would bet your problems are coming from there not to mention the common thrust problem which should be uprraded to the crawler parts to prevent this from happening again.
