Default Out with the Aristo tranny

So after putting 1K miles on the new setup the transmission is starting to get louder and when I step on it before boost it seems kinda shakey (feel vibration). I had tons of heat coming from the shifter too I read I'm only suppose to use Yota tranny fluid, but it seemed too late for that.

So on a last attempt purchased B&M trick shift and a Lucas additive, also added an external cooler, But problem still exists. Tranny has just been getting me aggravated seems to slow my car down until I hit full boost then It flies either way.

So I'm saving for a transmission, really don't want an electronic controlled tranny or really any auto but I have heard good things with the Chevy turbo 350/400 trans. Or my other option, my first option get a 5speed Soarer tranny.

Just want to here your guys input. Theres now way I can afford the 6 speed so don't suggest that at 15lbs the engine seems to be decimating this tranny.

imo if you want manual r154 is the way to go..if not get a built auto something like boost logic or from titan motor sports

which is what i plan to do eventually..i figured the cost of a r154 swap would be about the same as a built auto when its all said and done..but id prefer to keep an auto

True the price of a nice clutch would be pretty and having the tranny rebuilt would be about the same as a built auto w/higher stall converter.

Well, if you want a manual, just start hunting for that R154. They can still be found cheap if you are patient and a little bit lucky. Is that motor running pretty good for you now?

^^ Hey thanks for the replys guys so it looks like I'm wanting to do the R154 setup. I am still contemplating the chevy trans my guy shawn builds transmissions this is one on his mk4s that i went for a ride in (has Turbo 350 trans) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nopEajCKn-Q

I just dont know if 3 gears is enough for me, his 2nd mk4 highway car is the turbo 400 4 speed and I herd its ridiculous

I guess it all comes down to fun/ performance

if it has to be done gm auto go for the 4 speed, I have heard people who have regretted doing it just because its not a fun cruiser but more of a drag type setup with the 3 speed.
It would definately be reliable and some of the fastest SC's use the th-400, the next fastest is the built autos and the 6 spd.
the R154 wont get you to the top if you want to drag, it is simply a good affordable solution for a manual trans that can hold the power, you wont be shattering too many records with it.

^ Ic ic ya I'm deff not planning on breaking any records lol but I just dont want to break a transmission. I was in the DSM game for a while and know how frustrating weak trannys are. I just dont understand how they make these things so damn weak I mean the W58 did come in the supra, what exactly are the weak links in these?

Im using a w58, it can hold about 400 if you upgrade the clutch but it cant take alot of abuse due to its more compact design. everything inside the trans is smaller.
this is one of my fav pics of the w58 vs r154. The R154 was just made better.
