Mine failed utterly - absolutely complete failure of all clutch packs in every shift position at 154k miles - 1993 SC400. Dealer serviced on single owner until 107k miles.... when I bought the car as the second owner.

It's a crap shoot - I just got unlucky. Seems like the average is in the 180 range though.

Mine's 195k miles and still running like a champ. I even turn on/off the O/D frequently.

Sorry to hear that, did you do regular drain and refill's once you got the car?

I'm 21 years old and do all my own maintenance, my 92 sc400 has 205k miles and is going strong.

More than likely someone along the line filled it with non oem type t-iv fluid which will shorthen the life by about 75% and this is the #1 cause of transmission failure in the sc400 and tt supras and the fact is little known.

These transmissions with proper care should last over 500k miles as I have personally seen it happen as they are freakishly reliable with PROPER care

That's pretty wild, any aftermarket cooler involved in these high mileage survivors?
