Hello!

i become in the next weeks a ´98 Supra LSD with 64tkm.
Type A02B (ratio 3.769) LSD

The SC400 have ratio 3.92.

i calculated, the gears a little bit longer:

1. +2,9km/h (68,06 to 70,91 km/h)
2. +4,2km/h (124,64 to 128,86 km/h)
3. + 8km/h (190,84 to 198,85 km/h)
4. +12,5km/h (270,xx to 282,05 km/h)

calculated by 6000 u/min redline.

Is this a problem for the electronic in the SC400? Normaly must the speedometer little bit slower, or is this negligible? Or better to install the original gear?

i would happy to read some experiences with this ratio in the SC400.

not exactly sure what info you need, but yes your speedometer will read slower. I swapped the 3.76 gears in my sc300(4.17) and the speedometer is roughly 3-7 mph off depending on speed. yours will not be as bad since the ratios are closer, but it will be off

you also might notice slower acceleration from a stop, but your top end speed increases

But my SC400 is 1997, not the 1998 with the VVTI engine and 5 speed A/T.

The 98 have 3.27 ratio, and the 97 have 3,92 ratio.

The change to a shorter lsd, i change to a longer lsd.

Or i buy a SC300 with 4.08 and install this parts in my LSD

A lot of the GS guys do this mod and I've never seen it affect their speedo because the speed sensor reads from wheel revolutions not the gearbox or diff. As long as the diameter of the tire does not change, speed should remain the same. Where's the speed sensor on SC's located?

there are two speed sensors on the tail of the transmission of the sc300's, i swapped in a 3.76 LSD from a supra and my speedo is most definitely off

So I would imagine SC4's most likely have them in the same location.

If I were you, Id put the lsd in your 3.92 or get a sc300 rear end & put the lsd in that. I dont think you want to go taller on the gear. You will loose bottom end & midrange

Your speedo will be off.

You will loose some torque for take off.

Your revs will be too low to get responsiveness from the v8 at cruising speed on the highway.

I had a 3.76 for years, i swaped to a 4.08 recently snd the car feels so much better now.

i was stupid, i bought 2 diffs from Supras, a 4.08 and the 3,769. and i was too good his SC300 have 4.08 and he search also a LSD. But i become his old open diff

It´s difficult to adjust the LSD unit in the housing? Or only changing and finish? i read the manual to change and adjust the unit, we need many tools to do this. or is ok to nee do only contactpaste to check the contact point from the tooth?

*edit* from supra gives a 4.27 LSD...is this too short for the SC400?
