Torque Converter - worth it?

low end only.
Allows your engine to jump into the meat of the tach quicker. Somteimes you also get better downshifts too. like on a 3-2 kick down.
On a 90 degree turn when you slow to around 20-25 for the corner, when you hit the gas again it will seem more responsive.
Also off the line, if you punch it, it will jump out of the hole faster, develop rpm faster. You may even be able to roast the tires from a standing start without powerbraking depending on traction and the converter.
The downsides are that rpms rise higher on a launch and some see that slipping as a bad thing. City MPG will be slightly worse, Highway and top gear mpg will be unaffected.

Either the tune up or you don't realize that your tank is 20.6 gallons.... RUN THAT THING DRY!!!!
My needle bottoms out at 16 gallons.... Blinks the fuel light at 17.5 and still has 2.5 gallons...

Try $1.87 for 91 around these parts. I've seen it at $1.93 for 91 in neighboring cities too. I can squeeze about 410 miles out of my car before the empty light stays on. I could probably get around 450 out of her if I really tried.
Torque convertor is a must have for the SC400. Our off the line performance is pathetic at best, and this is a very good fix. If you read the racing stories forum, someone's SC400 (name escapes me at the moment) held it's own in 0-60 acceleration with a GS400. Pretty impressive I think. This will likely be my next major mod .
