its sad no one is supporting the 1jz
never the less i will stick out on this one
i think its a great option
makes good power and is very streetable and parts are much more abundant and more affordable than before
twins make good start if yours arent gone to begin with or a small single is plenty fun
a piggy back, injectors, fuel pump along with that single makes for a fun 350-450whp car
(hopefully your upgrading your tranny if switching to a single)

one thing i dont recommend if doing the 1jz is(larger framer turbo) make sure you choose turbo size appropriately. i made the mistake of this, very laggy, but thankfully i have a new rear end to help for the highway pulls

i think all are a good choice in the end
to each his own though....

How does the 1JZ compare to the RB25 OR RB26 since they are right around the same displacement? Just always been curious about that.

cant speak on this personally never worked or rode in a car with a rb series motor
wouldnt mind testin out an awd rb26 though

but ill stick with good ol toyota for awhile

We probably don't want to turn an already heated debate into a Nissan/Toyota war, but I have read quite a bit that RBs have oiling issues. At least through certain year ranges.

I have a BPU 1JZ and one of my best friends has a BPU R32 GT-R, Stock for stock (including BPU) the RB is far superior, yet more complicated. Its cheaper for a 1J to go single but the RB has tons of turbo upgrades for the stock manifolds available.

Personally I think numerous people overlook the 1J and push it to the side because they care more for the 2J.... but the 1J is a great swap. Cheap in comparison to the 2JZ-GTE and still able to handle a good amount of power 700whp+. Not to mention if you're lucky enough to get a 1J out of a soarer and you have a SC300 its damn near plug and play.

I sold my 1jzgte for a 2jzgte not because of the problems i was having (which i fixed btw) but because after it was running in the back of my head i still wanted a 2jzgte.

NA-t is Turbocharging the factory Naturally Aspirated motor, so yes a 2jzge with a turbo.

The 1jz has its advantages, shorter stroke and higher rev.
I still would do na-t for displacement or slap the 1j head on a 2j bottom end.

If you do a 1jz head on a 2jz block, will that's keep the higher revs?

No, the 1.5JZ has the rev limit of the 2jz basically, because you are using the 2jz block.
