2jzgte vvti / To TTC or not?
What's up fellas,
I'm getting ready to do a Beams 2jz swap here in the next month or two.
Now I've read a lot of good things about the TTC mod.
My question is will the mod compromise the down low full torque at 3600 rpm?

Run it sequential if you feel like dealing with all the extra wiring and vaccum stuff. I like the way mine spooled in TTC just fine, but I have never driven sequential so I cant give a fair comparison. What good things have you read about TTC? I just went TTC because I wanted to simplify my wiring and vacuum plumbing, and I knew I would eventually go single.

Well I'm sending the harness out so I shouldn't have to deal with so much wiring.
I've read on myis.com that ttc will prolong the life of the second turbo and give you more of a mid to high range punch in the powerband.
I think ill just leave it sequential. I think it has a lot to do with the early torgue delivery.
Would you recommend changing out the oil pump? The motor is extremely clean and appears to have low miles. The importer claimed between 35 - 38 k

I dont know, I changed mine but my motor had high miles for a JDM example (100,000). The pumps are pretty dang expensive, but I heard so many horror stories of people swapping a motor in and the pump going soon after so I bit the bullet.
I did the typical cam seals, front main, rear main, valve cover gaskets, motor mounts, water pump, thermostat, serpentine idler, timing tensioner, timing tensioner pulley, timing belt, etc etc etc.
Maintenance items get out of hand really fast, but its tough for me to recommend that you skip any of it

Oh, and I didn't do valve stem seals and of course a couple weeks after the swap, the thing started smoking, so I had to do them in the car. It wasn't too terrible, but would have been easier on the stand. Just something else to consider.

Stockhatch:
Im Gonna go ahead and do the oil pump. Better safe than sorry. Valve seals? That sucks man I hope I don't have to go through that.
Soarerboy:
The car will be an auto for now until I can afford to go r154.
Ill be leaving it sequential.
