Great thread. NOS is always an option and I've used Nitrous on many applications from NA to Turbos. Just be smarter than the nitrous. If you have not used or don't have much experience in this arena feel free to give a shout out and I will be happy to answer your questions. I've also seen some turbo kits for our cars that seem to be priced pretty reasonable online. Done right a turbo/meth kit should merit some really nice gains especially with a 5 speed.

Default SC400 needs more power.

I have a stock 1995 SC400.
It has been a great car but I live at 7500 feet.
When I drive the car at sea level it is much faster.

Does anybody have any tips to get more power at the high altitude where I live?

I have some mechanical skills but I am not prepaired for anything too complicated like a turbo kit.

Is there a type or brand of chip that would help me?
What about some intake or exhaust modifications?
Specific brands and combinations would be very helpful. (there is alot of junk products out there, I would like to know what actually works.) )

I have owned this car for 5 years and am very happy with it. My only complaint is; it seems to be tuned too mild from the factory.
I would appreciate any first hand advise on what works for this car.
Love the car! - But I would love it more if it were faster.

Glad to find a site where people seem to be informed about these cars!
Thanks for any help you can offer, - Tom

Nice, I've seen this in Top Speed once, apparently cars also have a hard time breathing at high altitudes like humans! LOL

Yeah, anyways, the factory tuning is really mild 'cause it's a luxury car. I also have a 95 SC400. Engine fully restored to factory settings. I plan on doing stage 2 although its not gonna be anytime soon, that's when the engine really needs to be taken apart already. It costs an arm and a leg to tune 1UZFE's btw.

Hi, I am new to the site and very interested in increasing the horse power on my 93 sc 400. I have been told that the tranny can only take about 300 hp; is this true. Can someone give me some advise on what to do. I am looking for about 500 hp.

Hp per dollar nothing beats a gte swap but if you have cash to spend build up the 1uzfe which is a fine motor just majorly lacking in the hp dept.

G37 = 330hp
SC400 = 250 to 300hp Max

u can't beat that car. those new nissan engines are boss. and i dont like nissans, but they make good power.
you gotta get ur car up to the mid 300s to be competitive. i just think tryin to coerse power out of the 1uzfe is too difficult. its a FE engine. made for economy. gotta work it too hard to make power out of it.

when u get that 6 cylinder ready. then u can shoot down some nissans or infiniti's with ease!

U could always twin turbo it. Like the SC400TT guy on here. But he has much money in the car as a forclosed house. He had something like 500+ HP

I have seen his build which is quite nice but I am not willing to dump that kind of coin in to my car right now as 3,500 will net me 500whp and I will be fine with that for quite some time.

Nitrous will satisfy your need for more power. That's pretty much about it, and you can repurpose it for a 2JZGTE later.
