Actually, it would not be 9 times the resolution because of gear reduction through the rear diff. At 55mph, lets say the drive shaft turns at 100rpm. With a 3.92:1 rear gear ratio, that means the rear axle turns about 25 times. So 400 pulses from the output shaft = 900 pulses from the wheel sensor. That may be close enough to keep everything in range. Of course you may have a lower gear ratio, but who knows.

Is my math correct? LOL...

They are in the big plug that plugs into the auto trans. This image is from the MKIV.com tech article section. I would not cut them. I would jumper the plug itself so the mod is easily reversed just in case, but that is up to you. You have to jump pins 4 and 7 as was stated earlier. Wire colors Yellow/Green stripe and Black/White stripe.

Man that sucks! Your county does OBDII plugin testing? Did you ever get the new ecu in there?

yeah we have emissions testing with the OBDII plug-in.

and no, i haven't replaced the ECU yet. kinda hard to drop 200$ of that!
i am just triggering the EFI relay to come on with a different 12v power source that comes on with the key, and it's been working fine.

update on this:

problem was my stupid ECU.

i got a used 99 ECU from Aliga reflashed into "virgin mode" reprogrammed my keys, and it is now perfect.
if i leave the NSS jumpered, no CEL at all.

Hmm this thread is really useful sc300guy89 told me about this thread.

So to bypass the Neutral Safety Switch you need to jump these two circled in red for the car to start correct?

Man i wish i understood your guy's wire diagram, seems too complicated

I plan on swapping maybe in 2 weeks depending on my homework schedule, i'll use your advice cartmill about taking the solenoids and plugging them in. I'll probably do the walk through of the swap.

But probably gonna need your guy's help with the CEL's!

UPDATE:

i tapped the FRONT RIGHT speed sensor wire @ the ABS ECU and connected both wires (+ and -) and connected them to V2 (speed sensor #2) wires @ the engine ECU.

CRUISE CONTROL NOW WORKS. the switch works, cancel works, accel works, etc.

also, i used the FRONT RIGHT speed sensor wires, but it wouldn't matter which of the four abs speed sensors you took the signal from.

Good to hear man. So are you still tricking the ecu into thinking the car is in drive via the e-brake relay, or are you just sending the cruise ecu a "D" signal some other way?

tricking the ecu into thinking it's in D with the e-brake and relay.

another UPDATE though,
it seems that the cruise doesn't work above ~60mph, like the signal isnt clear enough. it works under 60mph, then if you do "ACCEL" and accelerate over 60, the cruise turns off and the CRUISE light starts flashing...

Probably the scaling we talked about earlier. Do the calculations on the gear reduction and you will probably find that 60+ mph actual translates to a signal speed above the operational limits of the cruise system.
