Get a file and file every other tooth off the sensor LOL.

Yeah according to my math, you will not be able to go above 60.76mph before the wheel sensor sends a speed signal equivalent to 124mph which is where the stock ecu terminates the cruise function. This is assuming a wheel sensor tooth count of 32. 36 calculated out to around 54mph, so unless you have a gear ratio numerically higher than a 3.92, the wheel sensors must have 32 teeth...?

this is exactly what i was just discussing with a friend. above 60mph, the cruise unit thinks the speed is out of range (125+ mph) so it cuts it off. one tire revolution at the ABS ring is 32 pulses, and the v2 sensor is supposed to see 15.68 pulses per tire revolution...

i was thinking the only other way around this would be to use a converter to cut the signal in half. the dakota digital converter box thing that all the engine swap people use can convert sine wave to square wave and vice versa, and increase or decrease the output...
but i was thinking that if i'm going to go that crazy, i could just use the square wave signal coming out of the transmission speed sensor (at the tailshaft) and convert it to sine wave for the cruise control, as to not interfere with my ABS sensors at all.
but i have no idea how many pulses that VSS puts out per wheel/tire revolution. it may not even be close.
abs ring is apparently 32 pulses, v2 sensor should be only ~16 pulses.

what do you think?

I was looking into a converter to cut the signal in half, but it may not be that simple. Frequency AND amplitude are effected by RPM in this case, and dividing just the frequency in half may not work because the amplitude will still be high. It may be that the amplitude does not matter until it drops below a certain point, so you could try it and see what happens. There are circuits that will divide a sine wave by 2(or other divisors), search Google CML DFF. I found lots on info on it.

i dont think the amplitude will be affected enough to matter in this case.

i googled CML and DFF. this stuff is getting a little too deep for me...

I'm working on it. I still have connections in EE from school and here at work. I am trying to get help to develop a simple circuit to divide the signal by 2. That should get you pretty close to stock speed control range.

Oh, you were correct, it looks like the SGI-5 Dakota box will divide the signal for you. That would probably be the easiest route by far!

yes this unit would be perfect, but it costs 85 bucks!

i really wish i could get some more info from that guy who mounted the v2 sensor in the top of his W58...

Being able to cruise at 125MPH is not worth $85 bucks? Shoot, how can you put a value on that?

With a Dakota box of course As soon as I verified a device already existed to do what you need, I gave up on my pursuits, but I will wait and see if either of my sources come up with anything.

This thread NEEDS to be stickied in the SC300/400 "Performance & Maintenance" section. It should go along with Cartmill's other thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ode-p1780.html

And this one:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...t-issue-2.html

It sure sounds useful to anyone wishing have a chance at passing an inspection while running a W58 in their 98+ SC300's and especially 98+ SC400's. Personally, if this information had been available last year it would have directly influenced me to buy a 98+ SC400 since I wanted one with a manual transmission.

I forgot about this. My update is that there is no update. A Dakota box would do what needs to be done here, and my EE friends do not have the time or inclination to reinvent the wheel. Sorry man, I tried!
