98+ 5speed swap MORE GOOD INFO
other than my cruise control not functioning (due to the lack of the SPD2 sensor missing) and the reverse lights not being plugged in, my 98+ 5 speed swap is complete (with the CEL OFF)
i need to make sure this (pictured) is the backup/reverse sensor. i cannot find the wiring diagram for it ANYWHERE. also, pictured is an is300 w55, but the sensor/plug is the same as the w58. this is just the best picture i could find
if this is the correct sensor, it will be connected to pins 4 and 8 on the P1 plug (the big transmission gear selector plug) and this will make the reverse lights work, for anyone who cares

okay i got the reverse lights working
now, onto getting the car to think it's in PARK so i can start it, then switch it to DRIVE so it will run correctly.
FROM ALLDATA:
Park/Neutral Position Switch
The park/neutral position switch go on when the shift lever is in the N or P shift position. When it goes on terminal NSW of the ECM is grounded to body ground via the starter relay, thus the terminal NSW voltage becomes 0 V . When the shift lever is in the D, 2, L or R position, the park/neutral position switch goes off, so the voltage of ECM. Terminal NSW becomes battery voltage, the voltage of the ECM internal power source. If the shift lever is moved from the N position to the D position, this signal is used for air-fuel ratio correction and for idle speed control (estimated control), etc.
The park/neutral position switch detects the shift lever position and sends signals to the ECM.
The ECM receives signals (R, R, N, D 2 and L) from the park/neutral position switch. When the signal is not sent to the ECM from the park/neutral position switch, the ECM judges that the shift lever is in D position."

so i need to have power go from:
pin 4 (P1) to pin 7 (P1) --so it thinks it's in PARK-- to start the car, then switch the power to pin 9 (P1) --so it thinks it's in DRIVE.
anyone have any ideas?
i was thinking this could be done with the two switches that are on the 92-97 5 speed cars from the factory; the one at the bottom of the clutch pedal assembly and the one at the top.

yes, please do! i could actually do this with some googling, but you may be faster i can never remember remember which pins do what on a standard 5 pin automotive relay... would you happen to be able to include the plugs/pins to get the power from?

Yes, but you may have to work something out on the ebrake pins depending on the switch type. Essentially, you can wire it to where the ebrake sends power to the relay, or cuts power to it, and adjust whether D or P are on pins 87 and 87A to put the power where you want it.

Hahahahaha!!! I confused myself for a minute. You mislabeled IK1 pin 10. It should be IJ1 pin 10.
Wire the relay pins 85 and 86 in series with either side of the ebrake switch. This way, when the ebrake is pulled up, power flows through the relay coil. That bridges pins 30 and pins 87, sending power from IJ1 pin 10(12v) to IK1 pin 12 which tells the ecu it is in Park. If the ebrake handle is down and the circuit is open, relay pins 30 and 87A are bridged, which sends power from IJ1 pin 10(12v) to IK1 pin 14 to tell the car it is in drive.

Now, what may screw all this up is that you are already somehow telling the ecu that the car is in park, no? So you will probably get the old transmission selector switch malfunction code if you dont break the existing neutral switch fix you already have in place.
