Default 1jz still has code 42 after ecu swap

So the other day a friend loaned me his auto ecu to see what was wrong with mine. Well mine would take about 25-30 mins of driving before o/d would work. I read the codes and it was flashing 42 "speed sensor". So two days ago I borrowed an auto ecu to see if it fixed it. Well my o/d works but its still flashing 42. Also the whole time with either ecu my car shifts hard from 1st-2nd and possibly 3rd. I was wondering if anyone know what might be the cause of the code? Other than the obvious sensor. Anything else that I should check?

check voltage to sensor, and then check the output wire of the sensor and see if its even reading what it should. sounds like an intermittent problem so its either crappy sensor or maybe even the wiring to the senor or connector. Thats just a quick guess.. but can't hurt checking.

I will do that. It won't hurt at all to check. Thanks
