Default 1jz code 14 out of no where...ideas pls.

So my car has been rock solid for about a year and a half now, then out of no where, the check engine came on for about 3 seconds while driving and the car began to miss pretty bad, and out of no where the light went away and all was fine for about a week. Then the same thing happened again. This time I went to see what codes it came up with and I got 2 codes: 14 and 34. Code 14 says ignition signal and code 34 I couldn't find. Any ideas what this could be? Bad coil? Bad ignitor? All input greatly appreciated. This is my daily so I'd like to get it up and running asap.

Thx!

From the workshop manual - it says

-Abnormal Turbocharger pressure

Code 34; usually happens when you are hitting boost cut.

Right now when I start the car at idle, it misses like its on 5 cylinders or something... It sounds like a scooby ......

This has to do with the ignition system, I just don't know where. Would a bad ecu be possible? Like I said, car was running like a clock and then this came out of no where...

code 14 igniter signal to ecu missing - Ignition signal (no "igf" signal to ecu, no signal from igniter 4 times in a row

Seems that if this started all of the sudden maybe the igniter went bad or the IGF pin in the igniter is burnt up.

You could also check the resistance of the IGF wire from the igniter all the way to the ECU to see what it look's like.

If it started all of the sudden you'd think the wiring was ok and a hard part went bad(igniter)

Do u know which wire is the igf wire? Im just going to do what you said and see if there's a break anywhere in the system first. If not, it's time to order a new ignitor!

I don't think it's the Ignitor it's the iGF wire like Ryan said the wire is either broken or not making a good contact.
I don't know what color it is on the 1jz but Red with yellow on the 2jzge and gte and pin 58b on the 2jz.

what makes this so annoying is that its so random...I started her up and drove around for an hour or so with no problems. I checked continuity from the IGF wire next to the coil down to the ecu, no problem. I took a look at all the coils and wires, they are all good since i replaced all the pigtails when i did the swap over a year ago.

I ended up taking out the ecu, opening it up and looked for some leaking caps. It looked pretty cherry inside but i sent it out to driftmotion to replace the caps for me. Hopefully that will be my issue...
