Weird Exhaust Noise... "crinkling"?
First of all, hello everyone
I finally got another SC, this time a 400 instead of a 300 (I didn't know about forums when I had my SC3 lol). I'd been in the 3000GT/Stealth game for a while and now I'm done. I like cars that work
Anyway, my car has a couple quirks which I know how to fix, except for one. Whenever my car is idling, the exhaust makes a crinkling noise. Imagine a car eating pop rocks... that's what it sounds like. I tried to search, nothing came up (it was all about "crackling" exhaust on down-revs, not quite what I'm looking for). I do plan to upgrade the exhaust at some point so a flawed stock exhaust doesn't bother me, I just hope it's not more serious than that. My 200k mile Acura Legend made the same noise, but I didn't own it long enough to fix it.
My theory was that there may be some rusty bolts in the exhaust, or perhaps one of the cats is on its way out. But I never went to mechanic school My worry is that it could be more serious, perhaps an engine thing or an EGR valve/pipe.
I was hoping to start here instead of paying my mechanic to look at it, lol. Thanks in advance

Ann ok. Yeah it just scared me because my legend used to do that, and my legend was a very f'ed up car. I really did not do my due diligence before I bought it. There were too many problems to list. Thanks everyone, glad to know it's nothing to worry about
