If you have the SC400 and it's in great condition just keep it and swap it, if it needs alot of work and alot of love just sell it and get a SC300.
I have 2jzge-t in my 93 SC400 just make sure what ever engine you are gonna swap you get the full complete swap PS pump, ALternator, starter,etc... yes SC300 radiator.
It's not bad in 93 i did mine in 1day specially if you have all the parts.

My plan is pretty simple more I think about it..2jzge block, gte pistons and headgasket, gte head. Aem for management. I dont even want to know what kind of a headache the 1jz to sc400 wiring would be

^^^ You plan is too complicated ! no gte pistons or gte head is needed to make power just remember that.
You can cut your budget in half if you know how to source the parts and what's needed to have a nice setup that will make plenty of power without doing the whole gte thing...

My theory behind that is the 2jzgte runs what..8.5:1 Compression? I want to run a smallish turbo with more boost for a faster spool, a more streetable daily driver..the 2jzge runs a 10.5:1. good for MAYBE up to 5-7psi. I know that using a larger headgasket can lower the compression ratio, but the GTE head has more cam choices also. Who knows, maybe I'll go na-t on a GE block, GTE head, GE pistons and a thicker headgasket. I'm just playing with my options!

8.5.1 is old stuff. look at the big 2jz guys don't run 8.5.1 anymore the average guys run 9.2.1/9.5.1 = little boost to make power.
8.5.1= more boost to power.
And specially in AZ you guys have the E85 so no worries about how much boost you can run on stock ge 10.1 CR! you can run as much as you want.
You can get your cams regrinds or get the Web cams or the TTC. I was going to do the GTE head on the ge block but the machine shop lost my Cylinder head...
I will only do it if you you can get the head for cheap because it will cost you more money trying to gather all the parts for example the Gte head go for $500-700 depending on condition you will need the intake manifold upper and lower, TB, with sensor , upper water pipe etc...valve covers total maybe let's say $1100 remember you can buy an Aristo swap for $1700. $150 for gte head gasket, tt water pump $150, tt oil pump $190, crank gear$80. crank sensor $100 lol it's alot of money.
So for all that money you can buy a complete swap and be done with the headache trying to source out parts.

the more boost you run doesn't make it spool any faster. you want a faster spool you must get a 60-62mm turbo with a smaller AR.

I am running stock ge compression 10.1 with 30 psi on E85 no tune yet but i will keep you posted on my numbers. I mean bone stock ge block and head ,no headgasket, no head studs, i mean S.T.O.C.K lol.
