i have a 95 sc300. When i disengage the the clutch i sometimes hear a rattling noise. When i engage the clutch the noise stops. I have a brand new clutch. The noise was present on the old clutch as well.

at least you know it's not due to the new clutch. where is the rattle coming from?

Did you replace throw out bearing and piolt bearing

thank you all for your help, but when i replaced clutch wouldn't the throw out bearing been replaced as well.

its a normal sound on some of the w58's (especially 95+) it does it on mine. has something to do with the pull vs push type clutch setup. I had my throw-out bearing replaced didn't change the sound at all. its like a very slight whirring noise until you push in the clutch and then it slows down and dissapears until you let out the clutch again, most noticeable in neutral. there is a whole thread on this issue.

i have a ls460 2008 and i had trouble wiith shifting gears. the rpm would go to 5 or 6 and then you could hear the clutch release and the car would lurch forward at a fast speed
