Molten metal on 3rd oxygen sensor
This is odd! What is this stuff?
I replaced my 3rd sensor and it was hard to get out - there was all this metal buildup on the sensor.
We thought it was lead so we heated it up but it didn't melt - is it platinum? Or melted stuff from inside the cat? WTF?

Hello,
I changed the plugs about 3,000 miles ago and they were fine, nothing melted. I think they were the originals because the wires were dated 1997. That would have to be like a lot of spark plug melted on there and to travel that far down past the first cat seems hard to imagine.
Someone else suggested that there might have been welding done - which is true. I had a wideband bung welded in in front of the first cat a long time ago, must have been the metal from that..weird.
