a swap like this can be as cheap or as expensive as youd like. LS1 based 5.3 motors out of GM trucks can be had for as little as $400 in know good running condition.

The UZ has no real 0ff-the-shelf performance parts. It is a work of art, and it was truly state of art technology when it came out, and it is still right up there, although there is no Direct injection on it. But it can become a very powerful engine...With a significant amount of money...
Agreed, but I don't want to hijack this man's thread. I certainly appreciate what he has accomplished here...And I look forward to his end result. No question there are tons of performance mods readily available for the LSx motor. A very efficient motor, old tech, but reliable and powerful...
