a swap like this can be as cheap or as expensive as youd like. LS1 based 5.3 motors out of GM trucks can be had for as little as $400 in know good running condition.

The UZ has no real 0ff-the-shelf performance parts. It is a work of art, and it was truly state of art technology when it came out, and it is still right up there, although there is no Direct injection on it. But it can become a very powerful engine...With a significant amount of money...

Swapping a 32 valve piece of art like the 1uz for a Push-rod, US lump of V8 is not "Better". Just "Different".

I have to be the one nay-sayer.

Why didn't you just buy a Camaro?

It's rhetorical, don't answer that.

Clean car though, I can agree with that.
Agreed, but I don't want to hijack this man's thread. I certainly appreciate what he has accomplished here...And I look forward to his end result. No question there are tons of performance mods readily available for the LSx motor. A very efficient motor, old tech, but reliable and powerful...

i stand by what i say and i know plenty about cars...the uz takes money that's all.. because everything has to be custom made a person with an unlimited budget can make a monster out of the uz...the ls1 in my opinion is a **** engine...at the end of the day its not whats best its what you like..i personally is not a fan of the uz myself but it has potential and people are always bashing it...im a strait (6) kind of guy that's why im selling my 400...

Nice swap, I think it sounds pretty mean. You should slap a turbo on that thing asap

Nice swap, I do like the 1uz better, but to each his own. I give credit where it's due.

Does everything still work? (gauges, A/C, cruise etc etc) In my opinion that's when a decent swap becomes an awesome swap.
