Default sc400 - question about multilayer steel gasket for waterpump

Hi all,

Not too long ago i bought one of those Aisin timing belt kits for the 1UZ. The kit was great quality, but the job....dear lord what a pain.

Anyway, the kit included a nice looking multilayer steel waterpump gasket with a rubber inner ring around the entire perimeter of the pump. It looks great and i'd like to use it, but the manual calls for toyota FIPG or an RTV equivalent.

I'm sure i'm not the first to get ahold of this gasket, so i'm curious if anyone has used it and had it work successfully.

Thanks!

also worth noting is the waterpump i got in the kit doesnt have a groove in it for the RTV. That is likely why they supplied it with the metal gasket.
